History

Masterlink was founded in 1991 and based entirely on Polish capital. The company initially specialised in local parcel delivery. This has changed in 1994, when Masterlink started to cooperate with international courier companies, which allowed the provision of international services.

In January 1998, Sweden Post - Posten AB acquired a controlling stake in Masterlink. This has contributed to the companys further development, improvement of quality and extension of Masterlinks scope of services.

In July 2002 La Poste Group and Posten AB signed an agreement, according to which GeoPost holding, owned by La Poste, purchased 50% shares of Masterlink Express. At the same time Posten AB gained Direct Parcel Distribution license in Poland (DPD), thanks to which  Masterlink obtained access to a network encompassing over 30 European countries. 

In October 2002 Masterlink Express acquired 100% shares in Air Cargo Poland, attaining this way a customs agency and extending the scope of services by customs services, forwarding - air, maritime and road.
In May 2004 representatives of Geopost and Posten AB finalised the sale of the remaining 50% shares in Masterlink held by Posten AB. GeoPost has become the sole owner of Masterlink Express.

In 2006 a decision was made to change the brand from Masterlink to DPD. Thanks to this change Masterlink will be able to build a new international image, as well as compete more effectively on the market and increase its share in the international parcels segment. The re-branding process is estimated to finish by the end of 2007.

On May 22, 2007 the companys name was changed from Masterlink Express to DPD Polska.
